
Before 1979, the Iranian state TV was the National Iranian Radio Television (NIRT) and its chief was Reza Ghotbi. After the 1979 revolution, several individuals including Sadq Qotbzadeh chaired the organization for short periods. In the meantime, its name was changed to the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) organization. It was only after 1989 that the organization’s leadership became stable.
